Payments and digital transactions are processed through Squarespace payment services and associated payment providers.

Like most modern websites, it also relies upon a complicated ecosystem of invisible machinery, updates, scripts, protocols, and occasional acts of patience.

Where the author has made use of (or referred to) the work of others in the text, acknowledgement has been given in the Acknowledgements section of each epub (to the best of our ability) and in the Notes that are included in some versions of the text.

However, our e-books are the product of extensive background reading, the results of which have shaped the text in ways not always apparent, even to the author(s). Our covers are designed in-house using images sourced from Wikimedia Commons. Individual creators are acknowledged in our epubs.

Logo & Devices

The Tricky Genre Press Logo was created with the aid of ChatGPT. The font of the logo is from KM Alexander. Other adjustments to the logos were made in Inkscape and GIMP.

Publishing Tools

The ebooks published by The Tricky Genre Press are prepared using a mixture of writing, editorial, and design tools and other open-source and commercial software. The Press is deeply grateful to the all those mildly obsessive enthusiasts who make independent digital publishing possible.

In particular the Press wishes to thank the brilliant and generous programmers and engineers at: Scrivener; Calibre Ebook Management ; Sigil EPub Editor and Inkscape. All our stories are first written down in Scrivener and we love it!

Some of the above offer their time and expertise to storytellers for free. We support them through donations or buying them a coffee. If you make use of them, please consider supporting them too.

Artificial Intelligence

The publications and editorial direction of The Tricky Genre Press are human-authored.

No fiction, essay, poem, blog or historical text published by the Press has been generated by artificial intelligence systems.

That said, modern publishing increasingly involves a wide assortment of digital tools, and this website and its publications have, at times, made use of AI-assisted systems for purposes such as:

  • research assistance;

  • technical troubleshooting;

  • image generation;

  • historical and geographical orientation;

  • calculations (the author is very bad at maths); and

  • drafting administrative or legal text (the author is not a lawyer).

These tools functioned as assistants rather than authors.

All creative decisions, editorial judgment, interpretation, and published literary content remain the responsibility of the author and publisher.
